The National Museum of American Jewish History was established in 1976 and first stood on a 15,000 square foot area which it shares with Congregation Mikveh Israel. The museum transferred into a 100,000 square foot area that ceremoniously opened on November 14, 2010. The glass and terra-cotta building was architecturally designed by James Polshek. The museum boasts with a collection of 20,000 objects coming from the colonial period up to the present.
