The Awbury Arboretum was formally established by the Cope family in 1916. It was in 1984 when it was formalized as a nonprofit organization. The Arboretum covers the Awbury Historic District which was delegated as a National Historic District in 2001. It is a 55 acre area situated along the neighborhood of Germantown in Northwest Philadelphia. The Awbury Arboretum provides volunteer opportunities in various areas and also hosts service and educational learning.
