The Boston Symphony Orchestra was established by Henry Lee Higginson in 1881. The noted conductor and baritone, George Henschel was the first conductor of the orchestra. The orchestra is one of the well known “Big Five”. The Symphony Hall is the concert venue of the Boston Symphony Orchestra most of the time. During summer the orchestra performs at the Tanglewood Music Center.
