The Museum of Arts and Design was established by the American Craft Council and Aileen Osborn Webb. It was initially named Museum of Contemporary Crafts. In 1986 it relocated and was renamed as the American Craft Museum, until finally it was renamed MAD Museum in 2002. The Mad Museum receives about 300,000 annually. It is a center focused on hand made objects made of wood, fiber, metal, glass and clay.
