The Columbus Motor Speedway is a figure eight racing track and a one-third mile asphalt oval situated south of Columbus, Ohio, within the town limits of Obetz. The racetrack opened in 1946 as a dirt track for motorcycles and paved its way for car racing in 1957. The Motor Speedway is one of the three tracks in Ohio to be granted a NASCAR sanctioning agreement.
