About The Franklin Institute

The Franklin Institute was established on February 5, 1824 by Samuel Vaughn Merrick and William H. Keating. The institute was founded for the promotion of the Mechanic Arts. The museum opened in 1825 and was named after the renowned statesman and American scientist, Benjamin Franklin. The museum features the science center which includes the biggest artifact collection from the Wright Brothers workshop.
