The Franklin Park Zoo opened its doors on October 4, 1912. Its original landscape architect was Frederick Law Olmsted. The Zoo park has a land area of 72 acres and being managed by the Stone Zoo. The zoo includes over 220 species in the exhibit areas of The Tropical Forest, Serengeti Crossing, Kalahari Kingdom, Outback Trail, Giraffe Savannah, Birdís World, Butterfly Landing, The Childrenís Zoo and the Tiger Tales.
