About Woodmere Art Museum

The Woodmere Art Museum was established by Charles Knox Smith, mining and oil entrepreneur. The museum opened its doors in 1940. It is housed in a six acre mansion with a 19th century stone Victorian architecture. The Woodmere Art Museum boasts with over 3,000 artworks, including those of the Philadelphia artists. The well noted Violet Oakley lunette paintings are included in the artwork collections.
