Atlanta

Established at the crossroads of two large railways, Atlanta became one of the many casualties of the Civil War when it was burned to the ground during General Sherman's infamous March to the Sea of 1864. Following the Reconstruction, Atlanta became a center of commerce and a key stronghold for the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. Today, Atlanta is a mix of history and the ultra-modern. The iconic Fox Theater serves as one of the cities top landmarks and attractions, and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site draws thousands of visitors. The Centennial Olympic Park, a legacy of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games is a unique attraction and Zoo Atlanta is one of only four U.S. zoos to house giant pandas.
