Chattanooga, located in southeastern Tennessee, is the fourth largest city in the state, and since it lies at the intersection of the Appalachian Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau, it’s also one of the most scenic. It’s home to a variety of museums and educational opportunities, including the National Medal of Honor Museum, the Creative Discovery Museum, the Hunter Museum of American Art, and, curiously, the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum. The Delta Queen, a floating hotel on the Tennessee River, is an attraction in itself. Because of its location, Chattanooga boasts many opportunities for outdoor activities, including hiking, mountain climbing, kayaking and more. The historic Cumberland Trail begins just outside the city at Signal Mountain.
