Columbus

Located in central Ohio, and unlike most other state capitals, Columbus was designed to be the political, economic and social center of the state from the beginning. With a diverse population and economy, Columbus weathered the Great Depression and WWII better than most of its Rust Belt. Today, the city enjoys a large selection of breweries, thanks to its early Irish and German immigrant populations, and unique events like the Arnold Classic – a spring fitness expo supported by the action star featuring more than 10,000 athletes and 20 events – and one of the largest Gay Pride parades in the United States. Columbus is also home to the world-renowned Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, once directed by top animal expert and TV personality Jack Hanna.
