Louisville

Situated on the border between Kentucky and Indiana, Louisville is perhaps best known for the Kentucky Derby, one of horse racing’s premier events. Although it is firmly rooted in Bluegrass Country, Louisville hosts the largest Beatles Festival in the world, Abbey Road on the River, each May. Museum Row is home to a number of museums to suit every interest, from the Frazier International History Museum to the Muhammad Ali Center to Fort Knox. Visitors with a taste for the paranormal can also visit Waverly Hills Sanatorium, a former tuberculosis hospital that has been widely rumored (and even televised) to be haunted. Outdoor enthusiasts have a variety of locations to choose from, since the Louisville area has more than 120 park and recreational areas, including the country’s largest urban forest.
