Minneapolis

Once populated only by the Dakota Sioux, Minneapolis became a bustling city in the flour and sawmill industries, expanding outward from St. Anthony Falls, the largest waterfall on the Mississippi River. Nicknamed the City of Lakes, Minneapolis has more than 20 lakes and wetlands in its immediate vicinity, and many are linked via a series of parks and green spaces known as the Chain of Lakes. The city is home the third largest live theater community in the U.S. behind New York City and Chicago, and is home the Minnesota Fringe Festival, the country’s largest non-juried performing arts festival. The NFL, NBA and MLB all host teams in the city, and there are many recreation options for both winter and summer sportsmen, including fishing, swimming, skiing and ice skating.
